Clerk to Governors
Grade NJC SO1 (Spine Point 23)
Part-time (£20.43 per hour, plus allowance for accrued holiday entitlement)
The Governing Board is looking to appoint a new Clerk to the Governors to support our work driving the School Vision and achieving our strategic objectives. This is an exciting time to join us as the Governing Board go through a change in leadership.
As part of the Governing Board you would work closely with our Headteacher and staff to ensure our governance is in line with statutory guidance and best practice, keep the Board on track with meeting and training timelines, and ensure all Board meetings are comprehensively documented and delivering the necessary elements to support and challenge the leadership team to provide children with the warm, nurturing and safe environment we have at King's, conducive to learning and growing with the spirit of inclusion and our Christian ethos at the core of all we do.
The King's School Governing Board is passionate, committed and skilled; being supported by an efficient and proactive Clerk is integral to our continued success. We seek talent in all shapes and sizes - the more diverse we are, the more we can reflect the community we serve.
The clerk to the governors will ensure the smooth and efficient running of the Governing Board. The successful applicant will have excellent organisational, communication and ICT skills. They will be pro-active, efficient and have a genuine interest in school governance.
The role will include:

preparation and distribution of agendas and meeting papers;

taking and distributing minutes of both Full Governing Board (FGB) and committee meetings;

providing administrative support, including maintaining the Board’s GovernorHub resources and maintaining accurate and up-to-date records;

providing procedural and legislative advice to the Governing Board, ensuring that decisions and actions taken by the Board comply with current legislation on the management and governance of schools.
This is a part time role, covering five FGB meetings and approximately 10 committee meetings per school year. Meetings are held in term time at school, typically during the school day or 7pm (FGB). FGB meetings are 2 hours duration and committees 1 hour. The clerk is also expected to attend all relevant training events and briefings.
The clerk is paid through payroll for hours worked. The hourly rate paid is grossed up to reflect accrued entitlement to holiday pay (not included in the rate above). Hours payable include the whole meeting process, broader clerking responsibilities and training events.
Approximately 100 – 150 hours per year over 39 weeks per year
